HYDERABAD, Dec 16 The literary works of Shamsul Ulema Mirza Qaleech Baig lying with his family and at other places will be collected for display at the University of Sindh's central library and for reference at the Mirza Qaleech Baig chair.

This was decided at the first meeting of the board of governors (BoG) of Shamsul Ulema Mirza Qaleech Baig chair, University of Sindh, on Tuesday.

The meeting was presided over by vice-chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, who is also the chairman of the board. Granddaughter of Mirza Qaleech Baig, Mehar Afroze Habib, Dr Faiza Zehra, grandson Mirza Aijaz Baig, Dr Dur Mohammad Pathan, Shaikh Aziz, Dr Noor Afroze Khowaja, Naseer Mirza, Dr Kazi Khadim Hussaini, Professor Saleem Memon, Shoukat Hussain Shoro, Dr Khursheed Abbasi, Noor Ahmed Memon, Dr Abdul Ghani Shaikh, registrar Mohammad Saleh Rajar, Dr A.M Dharejo, Dr Adal Soomro, Honorary Director of the chair, Dr. M.Qasim Bughio and its secretary Professor Noor Mohammad Shah attended the meeting.

The meeting decided that research work would be conducted on the literary contribution and scholars would be registered for MPhil and PhD work. The meeting also decided to develop documentaries on the life and contribution of Qaleech to introduce Mirza Qaleech Baig to the younger generation.

The meeting decided that a PC-I will be developed and federal as well as provincial governments will be contacted for allocation of permanent grants for Mirza Qaleech Baig chair.

The meeting also discussed proposals floated by various scholars in the meeting and formed two different committees for the preparation of draft of the Terms of Reference (ToR) and fund raising for the chair. The meeting decided that rare manuscripts of Mirza Qaleech will be reprinted.

The meeting decided that all material lying with family as well as in different libraries and museums would be collected by the chair. For the preservation of the manuscripts they would be scanned and Sindhi Adabi Board and Institute of Sindhology would provide help to the chair.

Director of the chair informed the meeting that a full-fledged subject of Mirza Qaleech Baig will be introduced at four-year BS programme in the faculty of arts from next year. He said that Mirza Qaleech Baig's books will also be included in syllabus.

He said that the chair has assigned work of translation of autobiography of Mirza Qaleech Baig “Sao Pan and Karo Pano” and novel “Zeenat” into English. He said that the chair has developed Mirza Qaleech Baig website and available material on Qaleech has been displayed.

In his proposal Shaikh Aziz called for fumigation of manuscripts of Mirza Qaleech Baig immediately and publication of books needed for syllabus at school, college and university level.
