KARACHI, Jan 19 A 30-year-old man was shot dead on Monday near his home in Bhutto Nagar, a shantytown in the Landhi police limits.

The police said that the victim, identified as Aleem Khan, son of Kamal Khan, was killed over a personal feud.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.

Sources at the hospital's medico-legal section told Dawn that the victim received eight bullets, four in the arms and the remaining in his abdomen, from a close range as most of the bullets went through the body.

The police said the alleged attackers, who were yet to be identified by the victim's relatives, lived in the same vicinity.

They said that no case was registered till late as the victim's relatives were still busy in the funeral.

The police said the victim's father would lodge an FIR against the attackers.

Suspected dacoit killed

A suspected dacoit was shot dead in Orangi Town.

The Mominabad police said three dacoits barged into the house of Mohammed Anver in Musqati Mohalla in the small hours of Monday.

They said the dacoits escaped under the cover of fire after the inmates raised the alarm.

The police said that one of the bandits was shot and killed reportedly in the firing of his accomplices.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy.

Sources at the hospital's medico-legal section told Dawn that the suspect, wearing blue trousers and a dark-green shirt, received a fatal bullet wound in the chest.

They said the killed suspect, who appeared to be a Baloch, was in his mid-20s.

The police said the suspect remained unidentified and his body was kept at the Edhi morgue for want of identification.

They said a pistol was also found on the body.

The police registered a case on the complaint of Mohammed Anver against the bandits for trying to commit a robbery.

They said a separate case was also registered against the killed suspect for possessing an unlicensed pistol.
