Punjabi actor Yousuf Khan passes away

LAHORE Punjabi legend Yousuf Khan, one of the most respected actors in Pakistans film industry has died of cardiac arrest at the age of 80 in Lahore last night, according to a DawnNews report.

Khan was admitted to Shaikh Zayed Hospital here after he complained of chest pain; Doctors later announced that he had died of a heart attack. He will be buried in his hometown of Kasur.
 
His first film 'Parwaz' was released in 1954 and for a long time he was known as a character actor until he got his first a break as a leading role in 1973 Urdu film 'Ziddi'. After that there was no looking back and he became a superstar Punjabi hero in the 1970s.
 
His film career spanned over five decades during which he worked in over 400 movies in Urdu, Pashto and Punjabi languages. He has the privilege of working with a variety of actors from Sultan Rahi and Munawar Zareef to Shan and Saima.
 
Yousuf Khans last films include Syed Noors Budha Gujjar and Arrain da Kharak that were released in 2000. And so, almost after four decades, this talented man has left the industry and his fans.

Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Sunday expressed his deep sorrow and grief over the demise of Yousuf Khan, Online reported.
     
The prime minister in a message to his family appreciated his contribution to the film industry and arts. He termed his death a great loss to the industry and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the soul of the departed in peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.
