KARACHI, March 30: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has stressed the need for completion of all the ongoing development schemes under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme within the specified period.

The governor on Sunday visited various areas of the city and reviewed the pace of the KPP schemes.

He also visited the Edhi Centre at Sohrab Goth where he went round various sections, particularly where drug addicts are being treated.

He met some of the affectees and also announced a donation of Rs0.5 million for the centre.

Dr Ishrat ordered expeditious completion of the Sehba Akhtar Road in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Nagan Chowrangi, 5-Star Chowrangi of North Nazimabad as well as the ongoing work on roads of the adjoining areas, traffic signals, sewerage improvement, etc.

He took strict notice of slow pace of work at the 5-Star chowrangi.

Dr Ishrat has been monitoring the ongoing KPP schemes since he took over as governor of the province. He visited these schemes for the fourth time.

He pointed out that President Gen Pervez Musharraf had provided huge funds to the provincial government for the KPP schemes and made it clear that the schemes would not be allowed to become a victim of inefficiency and carelessness.

He warned that strict action would be taken against the concerned department if a project was delayed due to its irresponsibility.

In New Karachi, Dr Ishrat visited the Monotechnic College, which he had earlier visited after receiving a complaint about sewage accumulation. He had given one month’s time to the concerned authority to drain away the sewage.

He expressed satisfaction that the sewerage system had been rectified.—APP
