RAWALPINDI, June 16 An anti-terrorism court here on Tuesday issued arrest warrants of six students of Jamia Faridia after they did not appear in the court to face cases against them registered during the Lal Masjid operation.

ATC No. 1 Judge Malik Akram Awan asked the Aabpara police to arrest the accused - Abu Bakar, Abdul Qayyum, Saeed Ahmed, Imran, Abdul Latif and Mehmood Akhtar - and produce them in the court on June 27.

The accused had been granted bail and had not been appearing in the court despite repeated summons. They are facing the charges of creating law and order situation, spreading terror and distributing hate material.

Separately, former chief cleric of Lal Masjid Maulana Abdul Aziz and his wife Umme Hassan appeared in the court where they are facing 11 cases related to Lal Masjid events that occurred in July 2007.

Meanwhile, hearings in the cases of suicide attacks on the bus of a secrete agency outside Hamza Camp and at the main entrance of military's General Headquarters (GHQ) were adjourned till June 24 in the wake of absence of ATC No. II judge as the court has been vacant for the last three months.

Six men - Shafiqur Rehman of Mardan, Mohammad Mazharul Haq alias Ahmed alias Jani of Islamabad, Niaz Ahmed alias Dr Saqib alias Akhtar of Rawalpindi, and Syed Abdul Majid, Syed Abdul Saboor and Syed Abdul Basit of Lahore - are being tried for their role in the two suicide attacks carried out on November 24, 2007.—Our Reporter
