Justice denied to Kainat Soomro

Published June 30, 2010

THIS is in reference to Kainat Soomro's case (June 28). A little girl was sexually assaulted by some brutes. In spite of all her efforts she could not get due justice.

Hardly had the wounds of that atrocious incident healed that her brother was illegally picked by the police and held for a long period of time. Finally, his dead body was found from Kuzdaar district of Balochistan. As reported, it has all been done by some influential people of Meher taluka of Dadu district with the support of some black sheep in the police.

When the poor girl and her parents went to the police station concerned to seek help , they were misguided. It is the duty of the police and other state institutions to protect all the vulnerable sections of society and create a balanced and peaceful atmosphere.

It is a pity that no MPA of the Sindh Assembly, especially from Mehar taluka and Dadu district, came to comfort the family in their hour of need except MNA Ms Marvi Memon. She called upon Wasim Ahmed, Capital City Police Officer, who assured the bereaved family that he would get the culprits.
