Massacre of Babri Mosque

Published December 6, 2009

BABRI Mosque was destroyed on Dec 6, 1992. In its gory wake, 3,000 Muslims were also slaughtered. These were the days of the continued rule of the Indian Congress.

In the destruction of this mosque, the BJP found its reward and in the next election they won enough seats to rule India.

Now, again Hindu extremists are raising their head as an anti - Muslim agenda to repeat performance.

Let us hear from some famous Indian writers. Sugita Katyal says “The Babri Mosque was torn down in 1992 by a Hindu mob using sledge hammers, crowbars and bare hands, sparking India's worst religious violence since Independence. About 3,000 people, most of them Muslims, were killed.”

Kuldip Nayar has blamed that L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, BJP leaders, were known as co - conspirators on Dec 6, 1992. The surprising name was that of Vajpayee.

The three leaders acted against the Supreme Court orders “not to disturb the status quo”.

The centre failed to interfere to stop the demolition of the mosque purposely.

An Indian court had ordered excavation at the site of the Babri Mosque to determine if a Hindu temple existed under it. It was despite the fact that professor B.B. Lal had already carried out excavation in 1970 for Survey of India.

His excavation did not show any evidence of a temple at the site. Fourteen sites were dug in Ayodhya but no Rama figurine was found.

Ayodhya was mentioned in the famous Encyclopaedia Britannica for the first time in 1984 saying “Babri Mosque is built on Ram Temple site”.

Its previous edition of 1951 is silent about it.

It appears to be a part of a nefarious scheme by the Hindu leadership of India.

The top Encyclopaedia has corrupted piece of history by adding 'Ayodhya' with a wrong inference, i.e. by saying that 'Babri Mosque is built on Ram Temple site.'

The Muslims of India failed to fight the sinister addition.

The survey done by India has not upheld the existence of Ram's Janam Bhoomi at the site where the historical mosque of the Muslims was standing since the 16th century.
