RAWALPINDI, March 4: Ahmed Quddus, a Pakistani captured along with the suspected mastermind of Sept 11 attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohammad, and a Somalian, during a joint raid by the US and Pakistani intelligence agency officials from his Westridge residence on Saturday, was finally produced in the Anti-Terrorism Court on Tuesday afternoon for physical remand.

The ATC court judge Safdar Malik granted a four-day physical remand, and directed the local police to produce him before the court on March 7.

Ahmed Quddus has been handed over to the local police after being interrogated by a joint team of US and Pakistani intelligence officials for more than three days. The identity of the second foreigner held during Saturday’s raid has not yet been established.

In another move, the Rawalpindi police claimed to have recovered some illegal weapons during an early-morning raid at the house of Dr Abdul Quddus in Westridge on Tuesday.

Qudsia Bibi, the sister of Ahmed Quddus, denied that any weapons had been recovered by the police during the raid.

But the police claimed that a hand-grenade, a kalashnikov and a pistol were recovered from the house. An FIR has been registered against Ahmed Quddus, police officials confirmed.

He has also been identified as a co-accused in the Iranian Cadet case for allegedly giving shelter to one of the prime suspects, a police official said.

He was brought to the court at around 5pm amid tight security.

A source close to the police revealed that the raiding party comprised deputy superintendent of police, Sardar Maqsood, DSP Rana Shahid, inspector Saqlain and the SHO Westridge station.
