SSP chief meets Sindh CM

ISLAMABAD, April 13 The leader of the defunct Sipha-i-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) who now heads the Ahl-i-Sunnat Waljamaat (ASW), Maulana Mohammad Ahmed Ludhianvi, has held a meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.

“Our leader Maulana Mohammad Ahmed Ludhianvi along with a four-member delegation met the chief minister of Sindh to present a list of demands of our party,” a prominent activist of the party told Dawn while requesting anonymity.

Maulana Ludhianvi co-founded the sectarian SSP organisation along with Maulana Haq Nawaz Shangri who was later killed in a sectarian clash. He got the media attention some time ago when Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah visited Jhang and the two of them shared a car during a campaign to muster support for the PML-N candidate in a by-election.

This is not the first time that Maulana Ludhianvi has met a prominent government official. About a month ago, he had held a secret meeting with Muttahida Qaumi Movement's Governor of Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad. At about the same time, he also held a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at the Chief Minister' Secretariat in Lahore.

During his meeting with the Sindh chief minister, the Maulana demanded the arrest of culprits involved in the killing of his party's Sindh leader Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Nadeem in Karachi. He also demanded security for his party's leaders and activists in Sindh.

Maulana Ludhianvi is reported to have assured the Sindh CM of his party's support in Karachi and in the province.

It may be mentioned that Maulana Ludhianvi is placed in the fourth schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act and under the law he can't move out of his area without prior permission of the station house officer of the police station concerned.
