MIRAMSHAH, Jan 8 Five people were killed when a US drone fired missiles on a house in Tappai village of North Waziristan on Friday evening. It is the fourth drone attack on targets in tribal areas this year.
A vehicle parked in the courtyard was damaged.
Official sources said that four bodies had been retrieved from the rubble of the house and rescue work was in progress.
They said it was not yet known if any foreigner had been killed in the attack.
AFP news agency quoting a senior security official said the drone fired two missiles on the house.
“The militants were using this house as hideout. All the militants killed were local and were attached to Hafiz Gul Bahadur,” said the official.
Hafiz Gul Bahadur fought with the Taliban when US-led troops invaded Afghanistan and is reputed to control up to 2,000 fighters whom he sends across the border.
