KARACHI: The Sindh High Court dismissed on Tuesday a petition submitted by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) against the delimitation of constituencies in Karachi, DawnNews reported.

The Sindh High Court while dismissing MQM's petition said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan had ordered the delimitation of Karachi's constituencies, indicating that the superior court's decision could not be superseded at any lower court.

The MQM had initially challenged the SC verdict and filed two review petitions in this regards which were dismissed by the apex court.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) notified in March the delimitation of three constituencies of National Assembly (NA) and eight constituencies of Sindh Assembly in Karachi after it was assailed by the SC over non-implementation of its verdict on the issue.

The MQM and Pakistan Peoples Party had then filed separate petitions in the Sindh High Court against the ECP move.

Earlier last month a division bench of the Sindh High Court headed by Justice Maqbool Baqar reserved its judgment on the petition of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement challenging the Election Commission of Pakistan’s decision for delimitation of a number of constituencies in Karachi.
