Three killed in Hassanabdal incidents

TAXILA, Jan 30: Three persons died and eight others, including a woman, were injured in separate incidents in Hassanabdal.

Two persons were killed when a speeding passenger van hit them near Itmanabad, police sources said.

The Rawalpindi-bound van (ADB-3815) was coming from Peshawar. When it reached Itmanabad, the driver lost control of the vehicle which hit the pedestrians identified as Ubaidullah and Shah Khan. The two persons died on the spot while Afsar Khan, Sabir, Sadiq and passengers of the van, Shafeeq, Safdar, Riasat and Fouzia were injured.

The injured were taken to the different hospitals. A case has been registered against the driver, who managed to escape from the scene.

In another incident, a young man committed suicide in Hassanabdal owing to some domestic problems.

Police said Nasarullah, a local shopkeeper shot himself with a 30-bore pistol.

HIT VISIT: Fedreal Minister for Defence Rao Skiandar Iqbal on Thursday visited the Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT).

The minister and other senior civil and military officials visited the manufacturing units of tanks and armoured personnel carriers (APCs).
