In a joint statement issued here on Tuesday, they said that Dr Schimmel was born in Oefurt, Germany, in 1929 and was the author of many books and hundreds of articles.

The offices of the Sindhi Adabi Board (SAB), Jamshoro, on Wednesday remained closed to mourn the death of the renowned German scholar.
