PML-Q wins PP-147 bypoll

LAHORE, Jan 26: PML-Q’s Abdul Aleem Khan on Sunday won byelection in PP-147, with a lead of 4,130 votes over PML-N and MMA joint candidate Ameerul Azeem.

According to unofficial results announced by the returning officer concerned on 9:15pm on Sunday, Mr Khan bagged 18,059 votes against 13,929 secured by Ameerul Azeem.

Zaeem Husain Qadri of the PML-N, who had withdrawn in favour of Ameerul Azeem, got 227 votes. Khwaja Salman Rafique contesting byelections as an independent candidate got 27 votes only.

A total of 32,242 votes were polled out of which 340 were declared invalid. The turnout ratio for PP-147 was 27.71 per cent.

PML-Q party workers who had gathered outside the office of the returning officer concerned celebrated the victory of Abdul Aleem Khan by dancing and raising slogans.

This seat had been vacated by PML-N’s Sardar Aiyaz Sadiq.
