ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tennis Federation said on Tuesday its appeal to have its Davis Cup Asia Oceania Group II tie rescheduled will be put forward for consideration at the International Tennis Federation's board meeting in London next week.

Mumtaz Yousuf, secretary of the PTF, told The Associated Press he has received confirmation from tennis' world governing body it will decide on Apr. 30 whether Pakistan's appeal can be considered.

“We received an e-mail from ITF last Saturday and now we are hopeful that our appeal will be considered for hearing during the board meeting,” Yousuf said.

It's the second communique between the ITF and the PTF this month after Pakistan sent player Aisam-ul-Haq to London to present a detailed briefing to ITF officials.

Pakistan was leading New Zealand 1-0 and ahead in its second singles match at Yangon, Myanmar, when Sri Lankan referee Ashita Ajigala declared the grass-court unplayable and awarded the tie to New Zealand.

The PTF, which chose the Yangon venue, wants to resume the tie from the second singles match.

“It's one of our points in the appeal as we want to resume the tie from where it was stopped,” Yousuf said.

Pakistan's home matches are played at neutral venues due to security concerns.
