QUETTA: Militants threw a hand grenade at the residence of an election commission officer in Stanchion's Kharan town in Balochistan, Levies said.

A Levies official who preferred not to be named, due to him not being authorised to speak to the media, told Dawn.com that militants on a motorcycle hurled a hand-held bomb at the residence of Muhammad Hashim Baloch an election officer at Kharan bazaar.

He said the daughter of an election commission officer was injured during the blast. The blast also damaged window panes and glass in the house. Levies officials said militants escaped unhurt from the spot.
