ISLAMABAD, Nov 19: Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mohsin Aminzadey arrived here on Monday on a two-day official visit.

He is scheduled to hold discussions with Pakistani officials on the latest situation in Afghanistan. Both sides will also exchange views on other bilateral and regional matters.

“The purpose of the visit is that of bilateral consultation and coordinate the cause of peace in Afghanistan,” said Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar in the daily press briefing at the foreign office.

He said: “Very major and serious events have been taking place in the region and since both have the longest borders with Afghanistan, so both are concerned.”

Abdul Sattar said that in New York he had held a meeting with foreign minister Kamal Kharazi of Iran and both of us decided to meet and make contribution towards peace in Afghanistan.

In the next ten days, he said Kamal Kharazi would be coming to Islamabad with the purpose of consultations.—APP
