ISLAMABAD, Dec 10: A spokesman for the National Accountability Bureau has taken strong exception to certain reports carried in leading national dallies that the proceedings of anti-corruption nature and others against politicians have been suspended by the bureau.
The spokesman maintained that the National Accountability Bureau had been given the mandate by law to proceed against corruption. As the country’s prime anti-corruption agency, the bureau is functioning strictly under the law without making any exceptions, including politicians.
The spokesman recalled that on Dec 4, a presentation was given to the prime minister by chairman NAB.
The prime minister expressed full backing of his government to continue with the on- going accountability process and gave his unequivocal support for NAB’s drive to root out corruption.
