Achakzai wins NA seat

QUETTA, Nov 19: Pushtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai was declared elected from the NA- 262 constituency in the re-polling at the 17 polling stations.

The PMAP chairman secured 35,254 votes whereas his opponent Maulana Mohammed Hanif of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) got 33,701 votes.

According to unofficial result another candidate of the PMAP, Mohammed Nasim Taryali, also won the PB-12 Killa Abdullah, Gulistan-2, seat in the re-polling in 14 polling stations. He obtained 9,692 votes and his opponent candidate of the Awami National Party, Gulam Sarwar Peralizai, secured 8,493 votes.

The PMAP has now secured five seats in the Balochistan Assembly. Earlier, the party had won three provincial seats in the general elections while one woman candidate of the party was declared elected on the reserved seats for women.

The polling was held peacefully in the 17 polling stations of the NA-262 Killa Abdullah and 14 polling stations of the PB-12 Killa Abdullah, Gulistan-2, on Monday. It started at 8:30 am and ended at 5 pm .

The results of the NA-262 and two other seats PB-12 and PB-13 Killa Abdullah were cancelled by the returning officer due to the snatching of ballot boxes in some constituencies during polling on Oct 10 last.
