Two PPP men face to face in Badin

BADIN, Sept 21: The Sindh Assembly constituency PS-58 Badin-IV will witness a tough contest as the People’s Party Parliamentarians local leader, Qazi Amjad Abid, has decided to fight against the party candidate, Dr Sikandar Ali Maindhro.

Amjad has launched his election campaign at a press conference here on Thursday with an announcement that he was an independent candidate but had no rivalry with the People’s Party Parliamentarians.

Accompanied by some dissidents of the PPP, he said that he was holding negotiations with PPP workers and hoped for positive results.

Another candidate for the seat is Aijaz Jamali of Pakistan Muslim League-Q, who is supported by his community and the local anti-PPP forces.

Meanwhile, a National Alliance candidate, Ali Akbar Junejo, at a press conference, announced to have withdrawn from the contest in favour of Amjad.

Dr Mumtaz Chandio (PML-N), Abdul Razzaq Chang (Tehrik-i- Insaf), Dr Abdul Rehman Bhurgari (MQM), Noor Mohammad Bhatti (PPP-SB) and others are also in the field.

WATER SCHEMES: The Sindh minister for forest, wildlife, environment and food, Hassan Ali Chanhio, has said a number of schemes are underway to improve the irrigation system in the province. He was speaking at the one-day workshop on organized by the Sida here on Saturday.
