KALAYA, April 11: The political agent of the Orakzai Agency, Dr Tashfeen, has said that the local government system in the tribal areas would not affect the traditional jirga system in any way.

At a meeting, held in the upper sub-division of the agency on Wednesday, he said the government was giving due consideration to the development of the agency and the maintenance of law and order.

Dr Tashfeen said social development projects, like the construction of roads, dispensaries, potable and irrigation water supply schemes, would be launched in the agency under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme.

The meeting was also attended by other officials of the political administration and local heads of nation-building departments.

Tthe officials inspected various development schemes, including Khyber Agency and Orakzai Agency link road.
