ISLAMABAD, March 26: The district and sessions judge, Sheikh Farooq Ahmed, on Tuesday issued notice to film and TV artist Zeba Bakhtiar to appear in his court on April 6.

The court issued the notice after admitting for regular hearing an appeal filed by singer Adnan Sami Khan for the custody of his child Azaan.

Mr Khan, in his appeal, contended that he had the custody of the child since his marriage with Zeba ended due to some personal reasons. He added that his ex-wife took the custody of the child from a Canadian court, where he resided for quite some time.

He claimed that Ms Bakhtiar obtained the custody by “misleading the Canadian court through false and ill-founded allegations against him”.

It may be noted here that Arshad Sami Khan, father of Adnan Sami Khan, had also filed a defamation suit against Ms Zeba, her father, former attorney general Yahiya Bakhtyar, and mother Eva Bakhtyar. He claimed that during hearings at the superior courts, he and his family members were defamed by the respondents, which warranted due compensation.
