New Delhi test-fires missile

NEW DELHI, Feb 26: India on Saturday test-fired Akash, an indigenously built medium range surface-to-air missile thrice from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur-on-sea, Balasore.

Three missiles were fired from mobile launchers, said a news report received here from Orissa quoting defence sources.

The missile, with a range of 27km with an effective ceiling of 15km, was fired at targets supported by pilotless target aircraft, added the sources.

Akash was also test-fired from a mobile launcher on Feb 21 and 24 as well.-APP
