QUETTA, Dec 11: The Balochistan cabinet on Saturday condemned the Quetta bomb blast and termed it a cowardly terrorist act and part of a conspiracy against the people and the province.

The cabinet, in its meeting presided over by Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yusuf in Loralai, vowed to fight terrorism with full force and determination and to maintain the writ of the government at all costs.

It decided that the intelligence network and security measures would be made more effective and police and other law-enforcement agencies would improve their performance.

All possible steps would be adopted for the protection of life and property of people and the provincial government would not leave any stone unturned in fulfilling its responsibilities in this regard, it decided.

The government would take strict steps for maintaining its writ without succumbing to any pressure, the cabinet decided.

It stressed upon all political forces, tribal elders and people from all walks of life to join hands with the government and play an effective role in curbing terrorist activities in the province.

Political forces and tribal elders should discourage the elements that were targeting innocent people and opposing development projects in the province for their nefarious designs, it said.

"Targeting and killing innocent people is an inhuman act and no sensible and patriotic citizen can support such acts," the cabinet observed.

The cabinet decided that those who were declaring such incidents of terrorism activities a resistance movement for the protection of the rights of the people could not be considered well-wishers of the province and its people.

The cabinet was of the view that negotiation and consultation were the only ways for the protection of the rights of the people and resolution of their problems.

The cabine agreed that all political parties and every individual should strongly react against terrorism to give a message to the terrorist elements that people were united against them.

The cabine was decided that awareness would be created against terrorism.

It was decided that rallies and seminars would be held in different areas of the province to raise public awareness against terrorism with the cooperation of parties of the coalition, provincial ministers and the general public. It was also decided that an effective campaign would be launched through print and electronic media in this regard.
