KARACHI, April 1: The Sindh education department on Friday notified the names of registration and controlling authorities for privately managed educational institutions at different levels in the province, with immediate effect.

Instead of executive district officers (schools and higher education), now at least six different officials would handle the cases of private institutions up to degree level or more.

It was learnt that applications for registration or renewal of registrations would now be received by the designated authorities, which would be referred to the education department’s registration and inspection committee for process and recommendations.

In view of the recommendations received back from the registration and inspection committee, authorities in question would issue registration or renewal of registration certificates to private educational institutions, said a senior official of the department, adding that the notified authorities would also be looking into matters pertaining to fee and other issues.

According to the notification, registration of elementary schools (classes I to VIII) would be carried out by the EDO (schools) concerned, while cases of secondary schools (Classes I to X) would be handled by the director of the private schools of the Sindh education department.

Applications pertaining to registration and other affairs of privately managed higher secondary schools, intermediate colleges, teachers’ training institutions, including those meant for PTC, CT, BEd and MEd, would be received by the additional secretary (academic) of the Sindh education department. The O/A level schools would be handled by the department’s special secretary.

Sindh education secretary would deal the degree colleges and other institutions of higher education. All technical and vocational institutions would remain under the control of the director of technical education of the Sindh government.
