LAHORE, March 10: Malik Hamid Ali Noon, the owner of bay horse, Naseeb, who was disqualified after winning the Lahore Classic Cup in Lahore last Sunday , has appealed to the Jockey Club Of Pakistan (JCP) against the decision of the Lahore Race Club (LRC) stewards.

Naseeb ridden by champion jockey Shahid Rehman beat the raging favourite Al Hattab by four lengths, in an event going over 10 furlongs on Derby day.

After the race, Mubarik Ali, the trainer of Al Hattab lodged an objection against the winner, stating that Naseeb used the prohibited ?jumping plates? before getting prior permission from the club for their use by Naseeb.

The LRC stewards after examining the plates upheld the objection and awarded the race to Al Hattab.

The stewards took the decision in the light of LRC rule regarding the shoeing which says that ?in case a horse which had feet or that is thought unfit to race in the standard form plates, permission of the veterinary officer must be obtained for the use of a surgical or different types of shoes. The use of Colkins is strictly prohibited.?

Malik Hamid Ali Noon, who is also a senior LRC steward citing the rule has said that it did not ban the use of ?jumping plates? and has challenged the LRC stewards decision.

Those who attended the meeting were Ihjaz Hussain, Sheikh Sajjad Hassan, Mir Ikram Mahmood, Malik Ghulam Nabi, Mian Abdul Waheed and Masood Pervaiz.

The JCP has fixed March 12 (Saturday) as the date for hearing the concerned parties and decide the matter.

The chairman of the Jockey Club of Pakistan Hafeez Akhtar Randhawa, will preside over the meeting which is likely to be attended by Munir Ahmad Dar, Khawaja M. Arif and stewards from Rawalpindi and Karachi.
