Islamabad Club to play in New Delhi

KARACHI, Feb 11: A 16-member Pakistani squad would travel to India to compete in the Indo-Pakistan "Dil Se" golf competition to be held at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon near New Delhi in the third week of this month.

The competition has been arranged by New Delhi golf officials after consultation with their counterparts in Islamabad. A field of 32 players, 16 each from Pakistan and India would take part in the competition to be played on Feb 18 and 19.

The competition would be played as per rules of golf formed by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews and local rules of the host club. The tournament has two components including the Stable ford competition on the opening day and four ball, better ball, Match play competition on the concluding day.

On the first day all the participants of the two teams would play an Individual Stable ford round. The top 12 Individuals Stable ford scores of each team would be matched against the top 12 scores of the other team. For a better score a team will receive one point.

On the second day the team captains would create eight teams of two players each. Each team from one country would play one team from the other country in a better ball match play format.

The fate of the competition would be decided by the combined total of the two days. The tournament would be played at the DLF Golf and Country Club designed by Arnold Palmer. The Pakistani team would leave for New Delhi on Feb 17. -PPI
