Saeed new FPCCI President

KARACHI, Jan 31: Ch Muhammad Saeed of Azad Jammu Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been elected unopposed as president of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) for 2005 and 2006.

Sheikh Muhammad Aslam (Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and industry), Akbar Abdullah (Pakistan Iron and Steel Merchants Association), Azhar Saeed Butt (All Pakistan Traders Association), Mr Khalid Mehmood Khan (Sukkur Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Ghulam Sabir Khan (Pakistan Mine Owners Association), Zubair Malik (Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and industry) and Faiz Rasool Khan (Tribal Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry) have been elected as vice presidents (unopposed).

The announcement was made by Nadeem Azhar Siddiqui, Deputy Attorney General of Pakistan. The election of the FPCCI was held under the order of the High Court of Sindh on January 28, 2005.

Immediately after the announcement of election results of president and seven vice presidents, a meeting of the managing committee of the FPCCI was held in the evening at the Federation House to discuss the operating plan of the FPCCI for 2005-06.

Managing Committee members from all over the country were present at the time of announcement of election results and in the meeting of managing committee, an FPCCI press release said.

As per election results about 90 per cent of the total elected managing committee members belong to Businessmen Panel headed by Tariq Sayeed, former president, FPCCI. The newly elected president and all seven vice presidents also belong to Businessmen Panel.
