LAHORE, Jan 9: Basant this year would be celebrated with traditional enthusiasm to highlight country's image at international level. This was stated by Lahore Basant Festival organizer Syed Zulfiqar Hussain at a press conference here on Sunday.

He said a representative committee under the patronage of Mian Yousuf Salahuddin was being constituted to formulate ways and means to make Lahore the biggest kite-flying city in the world till 2010.

He said the festival this time would last from February 3 to 6. Basant and mini Basant would be celebrated on Feb 6 and Jan 21. Mr Hussain said a one-day seminar on 'Respect of Culture - No Terrorism' would be held on Feb 3 which would be attended by legislators, overseas Pakistanis, intellectuals, mediamen and representatives of NGOs and society leaders.

He said an estimated 55,000 overseas Pakistanis would attend the Basant festival this year. He urged the people to abide by the code of conduct and cooperate with the law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace during the occasion.
