Ulema urged to promote harmony

ISLAMABAD, Dec 12: Ulema and Mushaikh should play their role to enlighten the society in order to promote the true Islamic system which guarantees security of life and protection of basic rights to the people.

This was stated by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr Mohammad Ejazul Haq while speaking as chief guest at National Ulema and Mushaikh Convention held here on Sunday.

The minister said a National Ulema and Mushaikh Council would be set up soon and it would be stretched down to the district level to promote harmony and solidarity among the people, ensuring economic progress and improvement in social conditions.

He said best possible arrangements had been made for the intending Hajis for their stay in Saudi Arabia, adding a number of steps had also been taken for provision basic and necessary facilities and comforts to them. He said performance of Haj was a task that demanded tolerance and patience.

The minister said an Umra policy would be formulated to facilitate the pilgrims in future. Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Mohammad Ali Durrani, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, Dr Pir Mohammad Khalid Raza Zakeria, PML Ulema and Mushaikh Wing president also spoke on the occasion.
