Rubab to become youngest Olympian

ATHENS, Aug 19: Rubab Raza already knows that stands no chance in the Athens Olympics swimming competition when she take part in the 50m freestyle on Friday. But she is upbeat that at a age of 13 year and six months she will become the youngest ever swimmer representing Pakistan in an Olympics.

"I feel really very thrilled when I think that tomorrow I will make my debut in Olympics and it would be an ever lasting feeling to jump into an Olympic pool for a competition," she said on Thursday after a training session.

Rubab the winner of two silver and three bronze in the 9th SAF Games in March this year, said she feels delighted to represent the country at such a young age and get the status of an Olympian.

She said she know that her participation is courtesy of an invitation card given by International Olympic Committee but expressed the determination to qualify for the next Olympics.

"My aim is to qualify for the next Olympics and to create a record and I am fully confident to do so as I will train myself for the next Olympics and will try to fulfil my dreams," she said.

Rubab said participation in Olympics would be a source of inspiration and to build up her swimming career." Training with the help of state of the art and most modern facilities I feel that my timings have improved and on Friday I will prove it and surely be setting new national records," she concluded. -APP
