HYDERABAD, June 11: A meeting of the Sindh University board on Friday recommended the upgradation of the institute of pharmacy to the faculty of pharmacy and the upgradation of physics and botany departments to the level of institutes.

The meeting discussed different items relating to new syllabus for improvement of curriculum in various disciplines and introduction of pharmacy D.degree.

The meeting discussed scheme for four years BS degree programme in various institutes and departments and recommendations of various boards of studies for BSc (pass) degree and three years bachelors degree in IT, BSIT (pass) syllabus.

It recommended specialization in genetic field in the department of zoology. It also discussed syllabus for centre of environmental sciences studies for four years BS and two years M.Sc degree programme. The recommendations of the meeting would be further discussed for final approval in the meeting of the academic council of the university.

VC: The vice-chancellor of the University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui has called upon the senior professors to train and guide their juniors for imparting best education to students.

He was speaking at the fifth meeting of the board of faculty of natural sciences at the Sindh university on Friday. He said that the senior professor must fulfil their responsibilities in the field of training and education of junior colleagues and students.

He appreciated the efforts of the Higher Education Commission for sending valuable material in various disciplines for the preparation of teaching material by the faculty members.

The dean faculty of natural sciences, Prof Asif Kazi highlighted the aims and objectives of the meeting. On this occasion CDs pertaining to teaching material of different disciplines were distributed by the vice-chancellor among deans and heads of institutes and departments of the university.

ANNEXE: The vice-chancellor inaugurated the double story extension building of the Institute of Information Technology (IIT) at the Allama I.I.Kazi Campus Jamshoro.

The building has five class rooms, computer laboratories and offices of faculty members. The dean, faculty of natural sciences, director, Institute of Information Technology and teachers also attended the inaugural ceremony.
