Published June 3, 2004

LAHORE, June 2: Lower grade employees of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) were shocked to discover their contracts have been extended only for a one month period. Contracts of 91 employees, mostly in the lower grades, of the PCB working in different towns had expired on May 31.

The board extended it for only one-month. According to a letter, "PCB-58Admn", only the contracts of former great Test bowler Fazal Mahmood, his son Shahzad and Dr Sohail Saleem have been extended for 11 months.

The shocked employees criticised the board for giving them a discriminatory treatment in the name of austerity drive. Prominent on the list of those who got one month extension only were PCB's chief curator Agha Zahid, analyst Raza Rashid, former media manager Khalid Butt, general manager developments Irfan Mirza and Razaullah Khan, the manager of National Stadium in Karachi.
