LAHORE, March 9: The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation and the Delhi Transport Corporation have decided to run additional buses to facilitate Indian cricket fans to travel Pakistan to see matches between the two countries.

A senior PTDC official is scheduled to visit New Delhi this week to work out modalities for running additional buses. The PTDC will review the time schedule of additional buses and make arrangements for the return of Indians back home.

The DTC is likely to roll out its first additional bus on March 13 to enable fans to witness the second One-dayer being played at Rawalpindi on March 16. The last bus may come to Lahore on April 7, two days after the beginning of Lahore Test.

As the Indian cricket team is scheduled to visit Pakistan after about 14 years, about 8,000 Indians are expected to visit Pakistan. As all the travel services between the two countries are currently facing "unprecedented" rush, the two public sector bus operators have decided to meet the challenge by adding two more buses a week in addition to as many buses already plying between Lahore and New Delhi.

The PTDC quoted the DTC officials as saying that about 5,000 aficionados will prefer bus journey because travel by the train is cumbersome while air journey is expensive.

It provides yet more proof that the undergirding logic of public authority in Pakistan is legal and extra-legal coercion rather than legitimised consent.
