NEW DELHI, Jan 2: Indian middle-order batsman Mohammad Kaif will not play in the limited-over tri-series in Australia because of a thumb injury. The one-day tri-series begins Jan. 9 and features Zimbabwe as the third participant.

Kaif, a member of the Indian team that made the World Cup final last year, suffered the injury during a recent tournament involving the second-string national teams of India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. -AP
