Highway blocked

SUKKUR, Jan 4: Hundreds of members of Solangi community staged a sit-in on the National Highway near Ubauro on Sunday to protest against the killing of Sardar Aslam Khan Solangi.

Earlier, they raided Mir Kosh village near Ubauro and opened fire but no casualty or injury was reported as Kosh clansmen had already left the area fearing retaliation.

However, the Solangis set ablaze dozens of houses and shops belonging to Kosh clansmen and fled.

Due to the sit-in on the highway, vehicular traffic between Sindh and Punjab was suspended for five hours.

The protesters burnt tyres and raised slogans against the police, which, according to them, have failed to provide protection to the lives and property of people.

Sardar Aslam Solangi was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard Hazoori Shah near Machko (Punjab) on Saturday night amid tight security.
