SAHIWAL, Nov 13: In an act of bestiality, two brothers have chopped off the nose and bruised the left hand and lips of a polio-stricken youth who ‘dared’ to forbade them from teasing his sister. The weapon-wielding neighbours also ‘damaged’ one eye of the lad during an assault in front of his house in a Noor Shah village the other day.

Ajab Khan, 17, a resident of Chak 52-GD (Noor Shah), suffered polio attack in his childhood and had had his left leg paralysed. A part of the six-member family, Ajab a few days ago exchanged a word with two neighbours, Pervaiz and Javed, who allegedly teased his married sister who had come to her mother’s place due to some domestic issues.

The flicker became a flame but, as goes the village tradition, some elders intervened and helped the two parties settle the dispute.

The eve-teasers were, however, bent upon displaying bestiality as they again harassed and insulted the woman by dragging her inside her house. Her brother and mother came out abusing the neighbours and rescued the woman.

Refusing to pocket an insult, the two brothers on Tuesday night called Ajab out on the pretext of having a word with him but let loose their anger by attacking him with sharp-edged weapons. They cut Ajab’s left hand, nose and lips and damaged his eye with repeated blows.

Ajab’s wailing mother too suffered wound in the left leg when she tried to shield her son. Their hue and cry attracted a few neighbours but the culprits had already fled, leaving Ajab grievously hurt. The injured was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital where he was given treatment.

The family contacted the Noor Shah police which helped them get a medico-legal certificate.

Zulaikhan, the injured mother of Ajab, told this correspondent in the hospital that “they tried to kill my disabled son, so a murder case should be registered against them.”

The Noor Shah police on Thursday registered an FIR 628/08 under section 324 of PPC against Javed and Pervez. Inspector Sadiq, who has been asked to investigate the case, said no arrest had been made so far.
