HYDERABAD, Sept 6: Awami Tehrik has condemned atrocities unleashed by the Nato and American forces in North Waziristan and said that the violation of our territories by the Nato and the US forces had exposed the weakness of our rulers.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, the president of Awami Tehrik, Abdul Qadir Ranto, said that these barbaric actions were clear proof of the fact that the present government was pursuing the imperialist policies of Musharraf government and that all the decisions were being taken in Washington.

The people have completely lost confidence in the present leadership, Ranto said and added that Awami Tehrik has always demanded that Nato forces should be removed from the Pak-Afghan border and UNO forces, in cooperation with the OIC, should be appointed on the border to get rid of American imperialism.

Meanwhile, the president JUP, Dr Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair, in a statement has said that the attacks in the North Waziristan were an American gift to celebrate the victory of Asif Ali Zardari in the presidential elections.

He said America for the first time has violated our territory and challenged the sovereignty of Pakistan. He said that it was a real test for Asif Ali Zardari and the country was waiting for his response.

Provincial autonomy: The central committee of Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party at its meeting held here on Saturday has demanded that in accordance with 1940 resolution, the federating units should be given full provincial autonomy and their right over their own natural resources should be acknowledged.

The chairman of the party, Dr Qadir Magsi presided over the meeting.

In another resolution, it demanded that article 58(2)b of the constitution and 17th constitutional amendment should be repealed to restore the supremacy of the parliament and a true democratic system in the country.

It demanded that all deposed judges, including Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, should be reinstated and small constituencies should be demarcated from the national and provincial assembly seats to end the hegemony of jagirdars, sardars, waderas, chaudhris, Khans and capitalists.

It demanded that all major languages – Sindhi, Balochi, Pashto, Punjabi and Seraiki -- should be given the status of national languages and Sindhi should be declared the only official language of Sindh province.

It said 31 per cent increase in electricity tariff should be withdrawn, the prices of petrol, diesel and CNG should be reduced.
