Kidnapped man back home

GUJRAT, Aug 17: Police on Sunday claimed to have recovered a kidnapped man from a village in Rawalpindi district and arrested two of his kidnappers.

Three men kidnapped Muhammad Shafique of Lahore from GT Road near Kharian when he was on his way back to Lahore from Islamabad a few days ago. Later, his kidnappers demanded Rs10 million for his release. However, his family agreed to pay Rs1 million to the kidnappers for his release.

In the meantime, Gujrat police traced the hideout of the kidnappers and raided a house in Tatral village of Rawalpindi district. The police recovered Shafique and arrested his kidnappers Asif and Shamrez. Police said the main accused in the case could not be arrested.

Kharian’s Sadar police have registered a kidnap case against Asif and Shamrez on the report of Muhammad Yousaf, the brother of Shafique.

GUNNED DOWN: Two people were gunned down in Kunjah police precincts on Sunday.

Latif shot dead his wife Nasreen over a domestic row in Baniya village and fled.

Basheer Ahmed was shot dead by his rivals Khizar Hayat and others over litigation in Langay village. Police registered a case against Khizar, his son Ali and two others on the report of the brother of Basheer Ahmed.
