PARACHINAR, Aug 13: Clashes between rival tribes in the Kurram Agency on Wednesday left 28 people dead and 41 injured.

According to reports reaching here, six villages were destroyed as fierce clashes continued in Belyameen, Makhizai, Bagazai, Khwar Kallay, Balishkhel, Sangeena, Kandizar, Enzari and other parts of the region.

The death toll in the three-days of fighting has climbed to 108. About 181 people were injured. More than 500 houses have been set on fire and a large number of people have been displaced. Local people accused security forces and the political administration of remaining silent spectators and giving a free-hand to the warring groups.

Meanwhile, tribesmen and political leaders have decided to observe the Independence Day with protests against government’s failure to restore peace.

The decision was taken at a meeting held to discuss the situation prevailing in the area. The meeting was attended by local leaders of the PPP, ANP, PML-N and PML-Q and members of the Anjuman-i-Hussainia, Muttahida Turi Bangash Forum, Tehrik-i-Hussaini and Imamia Students Organisation.
