KHAIRPUR, July 16: Mem-bers of Hindu community of Gambat took out a procession on Wednesday in protest against the occupation of three acres of their sacred Gaushala land.

Protesters wearing black armbands and carrying black flags were led by Mukhi Duhana Mal, and Gambat Taluka council member Jay Prakash. They had come from Gambat to Khairpur and went to Naz High School, to meet PPP MNA Nafisa Shah.

They raised slogans against revenue officials and demanded suspension of those involved in changing record of Gaushala land. They said the Hindu community of Gambat was being harassed and pressurised to keep silent over the occupation of the Gaushala land.

They said some people, who enjoyed the backing of an influential PPP man, were trying to frighten them by flaunting weapons. They declined to mention names of those people saying they feared for their lives. They said they had informed the local police but they did not take action.

MNA Nafisa Shah assured the protesters that a committee would look into the matter and their problem would be solved.
