LAHORE, June 30: The Pakistan People’s Party held a ‘peace rally’ from the Lahore Press Club to Charing Cross on The Mall to demonstrate against acts of terrorism on Monday.

Around 1,500 party activists and supporters participated in the demonstration led by PPP Lahore President Azizur Rehman Chan and Senior Provincial Minister Raja Riaz.

Mr Riaz said the people fully endorsed all actions taken by the government against terrorism and declared his party wished to restore peace, all the while providing relief to the masses in consonance with its slogan – bread, clothing and shelter.

The activists waved the red, black and green flags of the party alongside white ones symbolising peace.

Zakaria Butt, Bushra Malik, and Faiza Malik were among those present.

The rally, which took place amidst high security, caused a minor traffic disruption along sections of The Mall and ended about one hour after it began.
