HYDERABAD, June 25: A police constable allegedly gunned down an accused in the courtroom of Sindh High Court Hyderabad, Circuit Bench on Wednesday.

Gul Hassan Otho gunned down the accused nominated in his brother’s murder case. Later he was arrested and taken to the Cantonment police station’s lock-up. The constable was in police uniform and a pistol was recovered from him.

Gul Hassan’s brother Ghulam Hussain was murdered in Sehwan and a case was lodged against Raheem Rind, his son Maula Bux, and others. Raheem Rind obtained pre-arrest bail while his son was in jail.

On Wednesday, Rahim had come to pursue his petition challenging the order of a lower court and his son’s bail application before the Sindh High Court Hyderabad Circuit Bench.

Raheem Rind was cleared during investigation but lower court judge ordered his inclusion in investigation of the case. He challenged this order through a constitutional petition, besides seeking bail for his son in the same murder case.

Court staff said that Gul Hassan perhaps wrapped his weapon in a plastic shopper which went unnoticed. A division bench of the court comprising Mr Justice Abdul Rehman Farooq Pirzada and Mr Justice Syed Pir Ali Shah were hearing the cases and then retired to the chamber to take-up single bench cases.

People present claimed that as soon as the judges left, Gul Hassan fired two shots at Raheem Rind from behind who fell on the ground and again to his chest which proved fatal killing him on spot. Gul Hassan was immediately arrested and handed over to Cantonment police station. A case had been lodged against him on the complaint of deceased’s nephew Khuda Bux Rind.
