KARACHI, June 24: Police in Site Town have arrested an arms dealer, allegedly involved in illegal trading of weapons after bringing them from the tribal areas, officials said.

They said the Peeradbad police raided an arms shop in Frontier Colony and seized some half a dozen guns with bullets, which were brought from the tribal areas.

“We initially detained the shop owner, Sirajuddin, for questioning, who later disclosed that he had been doing this illegal business for the last several months,” Athar Rahseed Butt, SP of Site, told a press conference on Tuesday.

Police have seized five AK-47 rifles, eight magazines and 60 bullets.

“The Peerabad police have formally arrested the suspect and lodged an FIR against him under the Arms Ordinance,” he added.—Staff Reporter
