KARACHI, June 15: Condemning the alleged murder of a housewife by a police raiding party, Pasban has demanded that a high-level independent probe be instituted and the culprits be arrested immediately.

Relatives of Sughra Bibi told the organisation’s chief Ashraf Hussain that a Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police party allegedly raided the house on May 31. The woman reportedly died due to the police’s violence while one of her relatives, Bagh Ali, was taken away.

The relatives, including the deceased’s husband Mohammad Akber, said that following the public hue and cry Bagh Ali has been released and an inquiry was being conducted, while members of the raiding party have been suspended. But neither have the culprits been arrested, nor have the goods that were taken away by the party from the house been returned.
