MIRPURKHAS, June 12: Tension between PPP MPA and President, women wing, Mirpurkhas division, Shamim Ara Panhwar, and city, taluka and district bodies’ office-bearers has intensified after en masse resignation.

Around dozen office-bearers of PPP women wing tendered resignations in protest against the behaviour of MPA Panhwar, soon after the recent visit of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to Mirpurkhas.

General Secretary of the women wing, Mirpurkhas District chapter, Sumera Baloch, said those resigning included herself, City President Fatima Baloch, Hanifa Baloch, Shabana Baloch, Najma Lashari, Safia Baloch, Bilquees Baloch and Inayati Pahore and added that they had stopped all political activities.

Dozens of office-bearers and workers of women wing including myself were mistreated and not allowed to enter the residence of MPA Shamim Ara Panhwar when the CM paid her a visit.

She said while Shamim Ara and her family benefited from the party, other party workers were denied the opportunity. She said Shamim Ara did not give any development scheme as an MPA.

She said that they had sent resignations to PPP co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, MNA Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani and President, PPP women wing, Sindh Chapter, Ruqaiya Soomro and were told the matter would be resolved at Bilawal House.

Shamim Ara when contacted denied allegations and said that no one had misbehaved with the women wing workers at her residence on the occasion of CM’s visit. She said that a meeting of the women wing workers with the chief minister was scheduled at the residence of Mr Jilani.

She claimed that no office-bearer had tendered resignation as she had confirmed it from Mr Jilani and Ms Soomro.
