TANK, June 8: Security forces arrested four persons during a raid on the house of a militant commander, Hayatullah, in Tank city on Sunday.

Officials said that army and paramilitary troops took part in the raid and arrested four persons identified as Mohammad Iqbal, Jehanzeb, Badshah and Zahid Khan. They were shifted to unknown location for interrogation.

Sources said that government had recently released two brothers of Hayatullah from Dera Ismail Khan Jail after signing peace agreement with Baitullah Mehsud in South Waziristan tribal region last month.

Hayatullah received injuries during an encounter with security forces in Tank two days ago.

GOVT ACCUSED OF VIOLATING PACT: Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan spokesman Maulvi Umar told this scribe by phone from undisclosed location that government had started operation against Taliban in different parts of NWFP and tribal region.

He said that the peace deal had been violated by taking action against Taliban in Tank, Darra Adamkhel, Bajaur and Nowshera. He said that Taliban had attacked a police post on Bannu-Tank road on Saturday night. Several rockets were fired at the post but no casualty was reported.

He said that TTP had directed its members in Peshawar, Mardan and Nowshera to get prepared, adding that Taliban would take action only in retaliation.

CLASH: local people clashed with militants in Sheikh Utar area on the outskirts of Tank city. Residents of the area said that a militant was injured in exchange of fire. Residents of the locality captured two militants including the wounded one and handed them over to the police.
