TOBA TEK SINGH, June 1: Six people kidnapped a man with his car and a mechanic travelling with him. The kidnappers later freed the two men after keeping them in their custody for 18 hours, but snatched their car, according to a complaint filed with a deputy superintendent of Gojra police on Sunday.

Ghulam Murtaza of Chak 324-JB Paira has complained to DSP Rana Abid that his son Qasim was going from Toba to Faisalabad with car mechanic Mustafa to get his car repaired when both men were kidnapped near Gojra Bypass. Later, the kidnappers freed Qasim and Mustafa, but fled with Qasim’s car.

ABDUCTION FOILED: Twelve persons attempted to kidnap eight people of a family from Chak 330-JB Seowal late on Saturday.

Accused Iqrar, Adil, Boota and their nine accomplices reached Mazhar Hussain’s house by two cars and rickshaws and tried to kidnap four women and as many men of his family. When the family raised alarm, villagers came to their help, caught three of the kidnappers and handed them to the City police. Police have registered a case against them under sections 337, 148, 149, 452, 448 and 511 of the Pakistan Penal Code and seized illegal weapons from them.

Both parties have a dispute over property.
