HYDERABAD, May 21: Relatives of a scheduled caste woman on Wednesday maltreated her on court premises when she came out of a courtroom after pursuing her criminal assault case against her father-in-law and others.

Relatives dragged Meera Bagri, beat her in the presence of on-lookers and tried to take her away with them. The woman strongly resisted on which people rescued her and police took her to the DPO office.

Her relatives followed her and one of them was arrested who was identified as Wazir and claims to be her brother. Wazir was accompanied by a woman but she was allowed to go. The Cantonment police have lodged a case against Wazir.

Ms Meera is pursuing a case of criminal assault against her father-in- law Dasu Bagri, Haji Siddiq and Masood Behrani which was lodged on her complaint at the GOR police station on April 5 under the directives of the additional sessions judge concerned. Police had earlier refused to lodge her case and she had to move sessions court. Ms Meera stated in her application that she had repeatedly been subjected to criminal assault by the accused in Tando Mohammad Khan and Tando Adam. She is reported to have filed separate case in the courts of Tando Mohammad Khan and Tando Adam as well.

The GOR police’s investigation wing has, however, not submitted the challan of her case yet. She had appeared before the civil judge and judicial magistrate-II to file a contempt of court application against investigation officer.

The court accepted her application and issued a notice to the investigation officer.
