PESHAWAR, May 20: A group of armed men looted Rs1,328,000 from the Allied Bank, Chowk Yadgar branch, on Tuesday morning.

A police official told Dawn that five armed men entered the bank at about 9am and made the staff hostage at gunpoint.

The armed men severely beat up cashier Sarfaraz Ali when he offered resistance and took away the amount from the bank’s strong room.

The injured cashier was first taken to the Lady Ready Hospital but was later shifted to the Combined Military Hospital because of his critical condition.—Bureau Report
